ABOUT ME

Hi!

 Thanks for stopping by.

My passion for plant-based, wholefood cuisine and chocolate has led me to create this blog to share recipes and ideas inspired from my Japanese background.

What fuels me is traveling to exotic countries to discover foods which I've never tried before.

Maya's Labo is my newly launched test kitchen. Here I create funky, tasty, and healthy meals and treats for mindful eating to nourish heart and soul, mind & body.

My mission is put a smile on everyone's face after they have experienced my unique creations, taking into consideration food allergies and intolerances.

My goal is to offer holistic healing as a Mind & Body Chef and yoga therapist.

I'm currently based in Montréal, Canada.

MY FOOD PHILOSOPHY

I believe there is no optimal diet for everyone. I grew up with a mix of traditional Japanese home cooking and Asian, American and Western influenced cuisine in Japan.

My Mind & Body chef journey began with a Macrobiotic diet. After that, I tried Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw food, Fruitarian, Paleo, and a couple of cleanse programs. Through my personal experiences with those diets, I strongly believe that ''HOW we eat is more important than WHAT we eat''.

I've been enjoying a plant-based diet for the past few years. I choose what I eat carefully. I buy organic and locally sourced produce as much as possible. I avoid using seasonings and condiments with additivies and genetically modified organisms (GMO) products. Wholefoods are key in my diet.

It is not easy to thrive in this world without ''food'' education. I strongly recommend you do your own research on organic products, GMOs, hormones and additives. Discover how these affect your Mind & Body health and environment.

Feel free to share your food philosophy or questions with me
